The popular areas to  go iceboating are scattered throughout Nova Scotia.  The main iceboat sailing areas are  between the Halifax, Dartmouth metro region lakes and areas of the South Shore such as Mahone Bay harbour and Lake Mush-A-Mush.


Directions to Lake Mush-A-Mush by Claudette Garland

When coming from Halifax via the 103, take the off ramp at exit 11, turn left at the end of the ramp, proceed 0.7 km to the 4 way stop sign in Blockhouse then take a right turn and proceed 4.3 km and make another right turn toward Northfield. From there you go 8.1 km and take another right hand turn onto the Sweetland/Farmville Road (which is a dirt road), go 0.6 km and turn left at the Aulenback Point Road (you will see a green community mailbox to the left at the entrance of this road) go 1.5 km back this road and we are #320 on the right hand side. Lots of parking, great, easy access to the lake, choice of places to get warmed up and have a wet, overnight accommodations available with little notice, good times and good company. Directions to Mahone Bay Harbour

Coming from Halifax take #103 hwy, exit 10 to town of Mahone Bay. The harbour is visible from South Main Street (west side ) or the Oakland side (east side ) of the harbour.

 


Directions to Porters Lake

Coming from Dartmouth on #107 Hwy,  exit Porters Lake West. Go south (towards Lawrencetown Beach) Continue past Lakeshore Road until you see a large container labelled "Eisnors". That is the launch area to the lake.
